Mapa de la ruta

The second suggested walking route will take us from one end to the other of Victor Rojas Avenue, also known as “La Marginal” in Arecibo. It begins in the “El Fuerte de Arecibo” area at the intersection of José de Diego Ave. and Victor Rojas Ave. (where the bust of Captain Correa is located) and ends just before the passive recreation park Julio Rodríguez Olmo and the “Arecibo Water Park”.

Our route recommends walking along the southern sidewalk of the Victor Rojas Ave., although for many people the northern sidewalk is the preferred one because of the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. This route focuses on the murals of the “Arecibo is Color” project, although other murals might also be seen.

Zone 1: In the first 500 meters, between the “El Fuerte” area and the Susoni hospital (intersection with Palma St.) you will see various murals, including

For the next 800 meters you will not see murals or other forms of street art, although it is an attractive area for walking. In fact, in this section (on the northern sidewalk) you will find kiosks with local appetizers, water and soft drinks.

Zone 2: At the intersection with Andrés Oliver St., you will find the following murals:

Finally, a few meters ahead, in the intersection with Morell Campos St., you will find the following murals:

At this point our second route ends. If you are interested in walking along the Victor Rojas avenue, you will find a passive recreation park a few meters ahead.

For various reasons, some people choose to drive between each area, then park their car and walk. This may work, but we suggest you watch for parking signs.

Remember that Arecibo has many other murals besides the two suggested routes. To view their location, use the map included in this virtual catalog.
